[POLICY] Guild Ranks

Postby Spryte » 30 Mar 2008, 19:28

Official rank structure for the guild. Re-written to reflect change in in-game titles as of 20th October 2007.

Council:
The Guild is run by a Council. Guild decisions are made by the Council, after consulting full members of the guild. All Council members hold Second-in-Command rank on the game. There are two classes of Council member:

Officer - The guild officers are ultimately responsible for the running of the guild. They have all rights, but are expected to use these only with the consensus of Council. In an emergency situation, Officers may make decisions without consulting the Council, but will be expect to justify them afterwards. The Officers reserve the right to overrule the Council and have final say on decisions, but will only use that right in an extreme situation. Other than this, no difference from other Council Members.

Ordinary Council Member - Full member of Council, expected to protect the principles of the guild. Expected to consult with full members, and represent their opinions on the Council. Has a full and equal say in all Council decisions, and actively involved in managing the guild. Has full XP, perc, and invite rights.

Emeritus Council Members - Emeritus Council members are Council members of long standing,
who have officially retired - but who (at the Council's request) remain available to the Council to consult on policy, etc. It is expected that Emeritus Council members will in time either completely resign, or return to active duty - its a temporary position.

Full Member:
Initiate rank. Has right to change own XP, and full perc rights. Member in good standing, who is also registered on the forums. Entitled to, and expected to, express opinions on how the guild is run and managed. Full members are requested not to set %XP to 0 (1% is OK - more if you like). Note: Some Full members are awarded ranks higher than Initiate as a recognition of exceptional service to the guild. Other than an honourary title, they have no additional rights or duties beyond any other Full Member.

New Member:
Apprentice Rank. Members join at this rank, and remain here until they have completed the recruitment process. No rights, but any full guild member will change their XP setting for them on request.

Alts:
Full Members may request to have 1 alt in the guild, if there is plenty of space. The Mascot rank is used to denote alts. When space is needed, the least active Alt is kicked to make space. We would always prefer to have another player in the guild, than an alt. Players are encouraged to have alts in our sister guild, East Bonta Trading Company, particularly if they are profession/merchant oriented.

Inactive Members:
Former members who have been inactive for some time will be set to Deserter rank. These members can be kicked when space is required in the guild.

Guidelines for setting XP and using percs will be posted separately, but basically will follow our principle of trusting guild members to be responsible and fair.
